ABOUT MID-MICHIGAN ACES VOLLEYBALL CLUB
Mid-Michigan ACES is a competitive girls AAU and JVA volleyball club serving the Central Michigan region. We are committed to developing well-rounded athletes by emphasizing both individual growth and strong team dynamics. Our mission is to provide every player with the opportunity to improve their skills while learning valuable life lessons grounded in our core values: sportsmanship, teamwork, resiliency, and leadership. These values not only guide our training but also foster a family-oriented environment where athletes feel supported, empowered, and inspired—on and off the court.
WHY ACES VOLLEYBALL?
Coaching Staff
Meet Our StaffOur program is led by highly accomplished coaches with decades of experience in competitive play and elite-level training. With backgrounds that include collegiate and national coaching, our team brings a wealth of knowledge, strategy, and proven success to every session.
Krista Davis, one of our volleyball directors, is the lead coach for all practice sessions. She provides the practice structure for our coaches to execute during training. This approach ensures that every athlete in the club (regardless of team level) has the opportunity to learn and implement what's needed to pursue whatever future in the sport she wishes to achieve.
Our top coaches are professionals with experience at the higher levels of the game. New coaches that we choose to employ are trained alongside the veterans. Coaches work together each session to train ALL of the athletes in the gym that day - not just their own.
Program Culture
Our team culture is built on a foundation of integrity and mutual respect, where sportsmanship guides our actions, teamwork fuels our progress, resiliency shapes our growth, and leadership inspires us to elevate those around us. Together, we strive not only to compete—but to uplift, persevere, and lead by example, both on and off the court. These shared values create more than just a team—they build a family-centered environment where every athlete feels supported, valued, and connected.
Training
The most effective way for volleyball players to improve is by playing the game. Our training environment is designed to reflect the unpredictability of real competition. By incorporating game-like randomness into every session, we prepare athletes to confidently respond to the dynamic situations they will face during matches. Every athlete practices every skill—every time they step into the gym—ensuring comprehensive development.
Practice groups are intentionally structured, with teams assigned to time blocks that allow for position training and intra-club competition against opponents who provide the right level of challenge. This environment fosters accelerated growth. Athletes finish each season more prepared for their next level of play—whether it’s middle school, high school, or collegiate volleyball. The most noticeable progress comes from those who embrace daily challenges and consistently push themselves in practice.
Across all age groups, our athletes are taught the same offensive and defensive systems, the same serve receive formations, and a unified set of terminology. This consistency promotes long-term development, reinforces learning from season to season, and ensures that players can build upon their knowledge as they advance through the program.
Competitions
View our ProgramsTraining is the foundation of our program and the core of our athletes' development. When players join our club, they are investing in high-level training designed to maximize their growth over the course of a season. The effort and focus athletes bring to training directly influence their development and the playing time they earn during competition. Every rostered athlete is given opportunities during tournaments to apply what they’ve learned in practice.
We are intentional about selecting tournaments that offer the appropriate level of challenge for each team. While winning is always exciting, true progress comes from competing against opponents who push our athletes beyond their current level of play. Growth often happens through adversity, and meaningful learning takes place even in losses. The primary goal of tournament play is to reinforce training, enhance understanding of game strategies, and help athletes develop both individually and collectively within their roles on the court.
