TRYOUT INFO

Athletes or parents must complete the online registration prior to tryouts. We recommend signing up for the athlete’s age level. The ACES coaching staff may move players to older age levels based on position needs and skill level, but we will never move a player lower than the AAU age guidelines. 


Any female athlete from any school is welcome to try out for MM ACES Volleyball Club. Athletes are placed on teams based on their skill level and positional needs for teams, using data collected from tryouts in both skill based and game play situations. We may use the first 2 practices to adjust a team composition, especially for our younger teams. On average, we will strive to roster around 10 players per team. 


Tryout fees are non-refundable, regardless if the athlete is not placed on a team or declines their invitation. *Players who are not selected for an Elite team have the option to transfer their tryout fee and registration to the Local 3 month tryout in the fall for no additional fees.


WHAT TO EXPECT

Players may play up in age division but cannot play down.

 12u On or after July 1, 2013- cannot turn 13 before July 1, 2026


13u On or after July 1, 2012 - cannot turn 14 before July 1, 2026


14u  On or after July 1, 2011 - cannot turn 15 before July 1, 2026


15u  On or after July 1, 2010 - cannot turn 16 before July 1, 2026


16u  On or after July 1, 2009 - cannot turn 17 before July 1, 2026


17u  On or after July 1, 2008, or in 11th grade AND born on or after July 1, 2007


18u  On or after July 1, 2007, or in 12th grade AND born on or after July 1, 2006

How will players be evaluated?

Every athlete will be evaluated each season or year regardless of a previous years’ status. Each athlete must come to the tryouts ready to compete for a position on one of our teams. An athlete who cannot participate in tryouts because of a limiting physical or medical condition or absence should talk to the Club Director prior to the start of the tryout period to determine the status of their ability to play on one of the teams. Players should never assume because they were on a previous team that they will automatically be on a future team. 

What to expect after tryouts:

ALL players will be contacted via the player's PlayMetrics account, regardless of team placement. Be sure to turn on notifications in your new PlayMetrics account. Players will be given 24 hours to accept or decline their invitation to a team. After 24 hours, we will need to move to a player waiting on a waitlist.


 Upon acceptance of a roster spot, parents must complete the team registration in PlayMetrics along with a $200 deposit, within 72 hours. If a contract is declined, an alternate will be chosen and the process will be repeated.  A $200 deposit must be made in order to secure the player’s roster spot on the team. 


Be sure to check your communications or notifications in your PlayMetrics account so you do not miss out on an offer!


Please do not contact the director or coaches after tryouts asking about placement.  You will receive a notification one way or the other.  Sometimes unforeseen circumstances delay communications or you may be on a waitlist. We thank you for your patience during this tedious process.
